20 Unique Gifts For Cat Lovers (That Don’t Suck)

I knew it the moment I outed myself as a crazy cat lady (sing it proud, girlz n boys).

From that moment on, every holiday, every birthday, every occasion of note from then until the end of days, I knew I’d be inundated with shitty cat gifts.

You know what I’m talking about. Cat t-shirts and pillowcases and coin purses emblazoned with shitty puns. Shitty stuffed toys. Shitty cat gag gifts. Shitty posters and coasters and pens and cat clothing. Just shittiness all around.

Let this holiday season be the year we put an end to such wanton depravity. Cat people are people, too. We like cool shit. We don’t like shitty shit. If you’re going to buy something for a cat person, gift with dignity. Nay—gift with epic badass-ery.

Check out my last cat gift roundup here (helpfully categorized by breed of crazy cat human).

Everyone ready? Let’s do this (in no particular order).

1. Brass & enamel stacked cat ring set. Are you swooning yet? Start swooning.

merryme-cat-ring-set

Available in various kitty coat colors and other fuzzy critter forms. For that friend who’s always rocking the weirdest (dopest?) statement rings. Even if that friend is yourself.

2. Matching porcelain kitty pendant. Because why stop at rings?

chikocraft-cat-pendant

Your neckline needs sweet kitty love too. A sweet, caramel popcorn drop of kitty love.

(This shop makes them custom to look like your cat, too!)

3. Geometric cat origami pendant. For a touch of modern kitty chic.

shanydesignstudio-geometric-cat-pendant

(Last jewelry piece, I promise!!) I love simple line-art jewelry like this. Is it a bird? A plane? No, ’tis a cat sitting daintily, if you please.

4. Cat astronaut pin. Houston, we have a cuteness overdose.

compocopop-enamel-cat-pin

I’m a sucker for enamel pins. And I have yet to find anything that so eloquently fuses my love for cats and my love for intrepid deep space exploration as this pin. It’s a match made in star-speckled kitty heaven.

5. Chunky hand-knit cat bed. 100% merino wool, for extra cozies.

chunky-knit-cat-bed

Nothing wins over a cat parent like a gift that says “I love you, and I also love your cat.” And no gift does the job quite like a cozy critter bed. So warm. So fluff. How I wish they made these people-sized—I don’t think I’d ever leave. I’d lose my job and everything. Things could get ugly.

6. Sherpa and suede cat bed. Shaped like a cozy house slipper.

nappingjojo-cat-shoe-bed

Why do cats get all the cool bed designs? Why is it no longer appropriate for grown women to sleep in beds shaped like castles and race cars and wooly slippers? The brazen injustice of it all.

Also comes in sneaker form, because why the hell not??

And in the painfully-stylish-yet-painfully-pricey world of cat beds, there’s also this little MCM heartbreaker-

7. Game of Thrones cat shirt. For badass cat ladies.

mother-of-cats-shirt

Ok, I know I shat on cat shirts mere minutes ago, but for this one I can make an exception. Because as mother to a brood of unruly, mysterious, fire-breathing heathens, I deserve to flaunt my cat wrangling prowess.

8. Ever-so-slightly-irreverent cat Christmas ornament. (Cats can be dicks? You don’t say…)

thisnerdygirl-cat-christmas-ornament

Because nothing says “Happy Holidays!” like a cat flipping you off.

No seriously. It wouldn’t be Christmas without my cats knocking my decorations off the shelves and then flipping me the bird (with their eyes).

9. Geometric LED cat lamp. How purrfectly illuminating! (sorry)

sturlesidesign-modern-cat-lamp

How cool is this?? Adds a heaping dose of futuristic, feline whimsy to any space. For the friend who loves design and cats. (But mostly cats.)

10. Cat doormat. That’s really so much more.

thecheekydoormat-cats-in-here-doormat

If you’re like me, you find yourself warning new friends and acquaintances about your borderline-obsessive cat situation. Just so, you know, they’re not taken by surprise when they come over and morph into a human lint roller.

This mat takes care of that for you.

11. Cat paw sticky notes. For the cat lover who reads (and writes).

cat-paw-sticky-notes

All you have to do now is find an introverted, reading, writing, note-taking cat lover to gift this to. Now where in the world would we find someone like that..?

Hmm.

12. Laurel Burch cat umbrella. The perfect shield against the shitstorms of life.laurel-burch-cat-umbrella

Some of you might think this umbrella veers dangerously close to “crazy cat lady” gift territory, so let me ease your mind. I myself own this umbrella, and wield it proudly each time it rains (which in Seattle is basically every day).

Feel better?? *crazy gleaming cat lady eyes*

For something a little more subtle, try this lovely Japanese creation by Uniumbrella:

13. Custom cat ukelele. For the musical, bohemian cat person.

celentanowoodworks-cat-ukelele

Even if you don’t know anyone who plays the ukelele, how awesome would this look hanging on a wall? Slightly pretentious, maybe…but awesome! And sooner or later, someone will come over who knows how to play that thing. What a day that will be!

14. Handmade felt catnip toys. In Llama form.

minitigerdesign-catnip-llama-toy

Cats and llamas: two creatures, who under normal circumstances would never have the chance to meet, brought together via serendipity and craftiness.

Why deny fate—especially when it’s this stinkin’ cute?

Also comes in beer form. 😀

minitigerdesign-catnip-beer-toy

15. Cat calendars. (That are actually adorable, and not embarrassing.)

One for your desktop… (with lovely cat prints by Stacie Bloomfield)

gingiber-cat-calendar

And one for your wall! (Adorned with whimsical kitties by Jamie Shelman)

jamieshelman-cat-calendar

These make me smile every time I look at them. Squeee! (Non-embarrassing squee.)

16. Cat stealing money coin bank. As seen in such viral gifs as:

itazura-coin-bank

Cuteness meets hilarity. What more could you want??

17. SHRU, the “Intelligent” cat toy.

shru-automatic-cat-toy

Apparently this thing “runs,” squirms, and squeals like a real critter, enticing your cat to chase and attack it. It also “thinks” its way out of tight corners and automatically turns on and off. Not bad for a giant egg-shaped piece of plastic!

(Warning, said egg-shaped piece of plastic is not cheap.)

18. Neko Atsume “Pepper” fleece hat.

fleacircusdesigns-neko-atsume-hat

Ah yes, Neko Atsume. The supremely cute yet pointless game that took the world by storm. Even non-cat-lovers were playing it. If you have a favorite Neko Atsume cat character, chances are fleacircusdesigns has a handmade hat with their face on it.

19. Sweet cat night lights. Get your kids onto the crazy cat person bandwagon early!

goline-cat-night-lights

Gently glowing, rotund little lumps of cat-shaped light. What’s more, they’re touch-operated, BPE-free, and have a setting where they gently change colors.

Screw it, I want one for myself.

And last but not least…

20. The Cat Bubble Backpack

I’m pretty sure no cat parent will admit that we want this, for fear of being exposed as an insane cat nutter. But we all do. Trust me. And I’d never buy this for myself, because I have self-respect.

But if I received this as a gift, well then, sigh. I guess.. I’d just have to.. give it a whirl?

Ground control to Major Tom…

And there you have it!! 20 epic gifts that I, as a very very cool and totally not lame cat lover, wouldn’t mind receiving.

Hope this post has helped inspire you for the holidays! MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Hi. Paws of Love is an animal rescue group based in Victoria. We will be present at the Cat Lovers Show held in Melbourne Sept 8-9 at the exhibition Buildings. As we are a not for profit group and a registered charity we are seeking donations of ANYTHING cat related no matter how small that we can put into show bags. We appreciate that your organization may contribute to other charities, but as we are a small group we are totally dependant on the generosity of businesses such as yours to enable us to run. PLEASE help us to put together these show bags, we really need assistance!

We will very happily place promotional brochures for your company both in our bags and on our stall at the exhibition and we will heavily promote your business by way of thanks. It is our hope to sell 200 show bags at the event, but we would be MOST grateful if you would be willing to donate whatever you can for an opportunity to promote your business, make a taxation claim for the value of goods donated and be involved in helping our rescue to continuing saving companion animal’s lives.

We truly hope you can help in some way with anything cat! PLEASE consider donating to our rescue.
    MANY thanks,
    Lindy Knell

Thank you for the cool gift collection! I agree with what ‘The Island Cats’ said: This sneaker bed is amazing haha! My sister has her birthday coming up in 2 months (I know, I am early!) and I am searching for a unique feline gift for her because she is super into cats. Since your first three picks were also jewelry, could you (or somebody else) give me an oppinion on the cat jewelry mentioned here? https://www.kittysensations.com/blogs/cat-lifestyle/the-29-most-unique-cat-gifts-for-cat-lovers
I think the first one looks lovely, since it is so personal but I am always afraid of buying from companies that I don’t know about. Now, I am unsure whether to get their necklace or the necklace you mentioned as number 3. I am afraid the personalized one is just too much, while the geometric one is very simplistic, but in a positive, stylish way. What do you think is better? Would love to hear your opinion!

Great quirky and cute finds, I have to say! Thumbs up to that portable book lamp thingy ?

    1. Why Cat Why says:

Thanks! Yes, I had to stick it in there. I’m sure the cats will find a way to repurpose it for their amusement. :p

  4. Pretty cool list of cat things. We love the sneaker bed.

    1. Why Cat Why says:

Isn’t it the greatest? They’d look so cute in a matching pair.

  5. I’m impossibly picky too…that is why I only loved six of these (that is why there is chocolate and vanilla, you can’t please everyone and everyone has different taste).

    I loved numbers 5, 6, 13, 16, 19 and 20…(especially the Sherpa bed and the tennis shoe bed)……..as I said, you can’t please everyone!!!!

    1. Why Cat Why says:

Totally!! I feel like I have weird taste in well, just about everything — so I’m impossible to shop for. So people just default to goofy cat t-shirts :p
